Do and Don’t Halloween Costumes

It’s the end of October and the youths favorite holiday approaches. Halloween. One of the best parts about Halloween is the costumes. My personal enjoyment comes from bad costumes. Here are some of my personal do's and don’t.

  1. Do wear something comfortable.

Remember if you are going out all night long. You may want to not wear something that won’t have your feet aching by the time you go back home. Nothing will kill a mood faster than being uncomfortable.

  1. Don’t to the concept costume

As much as a love concept costume they can miss the mark if you don’t have the right execution or audience. The most gut wrenching feeling about wearing a concept costume is when no one gets what you are and you spend the night explaining to everyone you interact with what it is. I think we all hate repeating ourselves!

  1. Do have quick costumes

The worst thing ever is being invited to multiple Halloween parties but only having one costume! I mean no one wants to be up every other day doing a costume that requires makeup or a certain hairstyle to complete. Sometimes having a mask and some fake blood will save your energy for the actual fun stuff!

  1. Don’t Meme or Celebrities costumes

These days I see a lot of celebrities' costumes or costume recreating memes that I've only seen once. While I think they are fun if they didn’t say who it was I wouldn’t know what they were dressed up as. I enjoy some of the celebrities' costumes but in my opinion they only work if they are actually famous and have a consistent recognizable look. Such as Steve Harvey or Ariana Grande's ponytail!

  1. Do have fun (and be safe!)

As much as we tend to stress out about costumes, that is not the point of going out to celebrate Halloween. The point is to have fun! So do remember to always keep that as the top priority during Halloween.
